Konan Product Life Cycle

Policy Overview
This Policy is internally based on the business plan of each product. Its purpose is to provide external guidance for the investment plans of clients.
Therefore, the release date, end of life, and end of service of each version of the product shall be clearly designated and announced and enforced to clients and the staff inside the company.

The definition of terms used in this Policy are as follows:
  • End of Life (EOL): Sale End Date

    “EOL” refers to the date when the product (or its version) is no longer sold as new merchandise through business organizations, channels, etc.
    After the EOL, the new issuance of the product’s (or its version’s) license key is suspended. Therefore, the issuance of new license keys for establishment according to new sales contracts is unavailable.
    Only the reissuance of already issued license keys is permitted.
  • End of Service (EOS): Maintenance End Date

    “EOS” refers to the date when the installation files and technical support services regarding the product (or its version) are no longer provided.
    After EOS, new issuance as well as reissuance of the product’s (or its version’s) license key are suspended.
    Therefore, maintenance contracts shall not be concluded with clients who use the product (version) whose maintenance has ended.
Life Cycle Policy
  • The version of the product managed in terms of the Product Life Cycle Management Policy shall be based on the “first” (major) digit of its version number.
  • Sales of the previous version is available for 2 years from the date of the following major version (EOL: sale end date)
  • Upon passing 5 years from the EOL, the maintenance of that product’s version shall end (EOS: maintenance end date)
    EOS shall be confirmed as the last day of that year.
    (e.g., if Konan Search 6 is released in February 2022, Konan Search 5 shall be available for sale until February 2024 (EOL), and maintenance shall be supported until December 2029 (EOS).)

  • We recommend upgrading to the higher-level product (version) before the end of life (EOL) date, as technical support services for the product version will be restricted after the end of service (EOS).
  • The end of service (EOS) shall be announced at least 1 year before its enforcement date so that the client may make relevant preparations. (e.g., securing budget, etc.)

Exception:

  • Notwithstanding cases of a product whose end of life (EOL) has passed, the product shall be available for sale limited to the existing client’s DR establishment or for scale-up purposes. However, even in such cases, the end of sale (EOS) date shall be maintained the same as the existing standard. The seller shall notify the client of such a fact.
  • In cases where a project has difficulties regarding the application of the Policy above, the matter shall be shared with relevant departments.
